Every corner: Achievement in one area of your life that shines a positive light on all the other areas in your life. So when you seem to be stuck in one part of your life, like driving a tractor trailer, put some effort into making improvements elsewhere.
If, for example, you're having trouble making progress in your career as a truck driver, work on improving your level of physical fitness. The beneficial effects of a higher level of fitness will spill over into all parts of your life.
By the same token, you can't expect to ignore important parts of your life and have things go well in other areas. You can't ignore your spouse and family and expect your job to take up the slack.
Success is a full-time endeavor. It comes when you integrate positive efforts and expectations into every corner of your life.
Your health, your trucking company finances, your friendships, family, faith, community, career, learning, relaxation and recreation all contribute to each other. Balance your time and attention on a daily basis among all the things that truly matter, and the positive momentum will quickly grow.
The achievements that really matter are those that enhance your whole life.

HANG IN THERE - IT AIN'T OVER YET

Dont give up Truckers - we are with you in action and in spirit.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."-Theodore Roosevelt

News About Truckers United

Maybe it's time to change jobs - hmmm... Salmon Fishermen aren't doing much better. Maybe it's time to just take the old boat out. Sometimes a change of scenery can do you good.

A burden you don't deserve:
It's easy to blame someone else for your trucking troubles. Yet when you're truly honest with yourself, it's clear that blaming someone else will not add the slightest bit of value to your life.
It seems fair and reasonable to expect your problems to be solved by the people who caused them, but stop and think about it. Do you really wish to give those people who caused your problems any additional control over your life and your future?
To move your life in the direction you choose to go, you must be willing to take full responsibility for it. That means moving past what's easy and accepting that things are not always going to be fair.
Who knows that better than a Tractor Trailer driver.
Perhaps life has given you a burden you don't deserve. Instead of seeing that as an excuse to give up, see it as an opportunity to give more.
Though you may not have brought the troubles upon yourself, you can nevertheless make positive use of them. Choose to take full responsibility for your own situation, and you'll begin to see how you can rise from it to a level that's higher than ever before.
Real success does not result from everything going perfectly. Real success comes when you're willing to move forward no matter what may happen.

THIRD DAY OF TRUCKERS STRIKE 2008 - STAND YOUR GROUND

Yes the Truckers Strike of 2008 is still going on this Thursday, April 3rd. I know it's hard to tell because of the lack of news coverage. I am sure you can guess why it is isn't getting any news coverage - because big oil doesn't want it to - and they do control our media.
Until an effect is seen and complained about loud enough - it will not be noticed.
Local newspapers will print stories about the effect it is having long before it will ever get on TV.
Another reason to park it: When you do your taxes at the end of the year and add it all up do you see yourself working for less than $10 an hour driving that tractor trailer? Can you justify doing that? and being away from your family for that? Somethings gotta change.

After all - if you are sitting at home on strike there is no one to interview at the truck stops anyways. So keep on posting daily to the news links listed on the post from the day before which you can see below this post.

Here are a few words of encouragement from my favorite motivational person Ralph Marston:
What tomorrow will bring Life is dynamic.
And for that reason, the bad news is never as bad as it seems.
Whatever may happen, whatever condition may arise, you can adjust to it and make the most of it. Not only can you survive in the face of changing conditions, you can indeed prosper.
When you look at new developments through the lens of your existing assumptions, they can often appear overwhelmingly negative and hopeless. Yet when you start working your way through the new conditions, brilliant opportunities begin to appear at nearly every turn.
Circumstances are constantly changing, and even the changes are constantly changing. As you continue to adapt, and as those around you also adapt, positive new possibilities emerge and take root.
It's difficult to know precisely what tomorrow will bring. Yet you can know with confidence that whatever tomorrow does offer, there will be a way for you to make the most of it.
For the value and goodness of life never go away. They just continue to be presented to you in new and more fulfilling ways.

Truckers - This is your one opportunity to do something, make a statement, by your words and your actions well placed. No one ever made a difference without sacrifice and now is the time to put those actions behind your words and your beleifs. Take control of your life and of your future.

From Ralph Marston today:
Your destination depends not on where you are but on which way you go. Your results depend not on what has happened, and not on what you have, but on what you do with it all.
From here, you can go anywhere. There are pathways leading in every direction.
What matters now is which of those pathways you choose. What matters now is the next step you take.
Give yourself permission to decide what you truly desire for your life and for your world.
And know that there is a way, right now, to begin creating it.
When your thoughts and actions have a clear, specific purpose, each moment will carry you closer to the fulfillment of that purpose. When you move consistently in a chosen direction, you cannot help but reach the destination you choose.
Lovingly, thoughtfully and carefully select your direction today. You are always moving toward something, so make that something exactly what you wish.

HURRAY TRUCKERS STRIKE - EVERYONE SHOW THEIR SUPPORT

TRUCKERS STRIKE APRIL 1st - 3rd, 2008,
I am so glad the independent truckers are doing this. We need to show our support by joining them in this sit down strike and quit driving for the rest of the week. OK so go out and stock up on groceries first then quit driving as much as possible while this strike is going on.
I don't know how but maybe if enough people join in and they get enough press coverage it will do something to the gas prices. I know it is going to take at least a week before we see the effects of it trickle thru the economy in unstocked shelves and people complaining. Of course I fully expect some people to complain about the truckers instead of understanding why they are striking in the first place - which is outrageously high fuel prices. The large trucking companies get a discount on fuel because they can buy ahead in volume while the indepedent trucker has to pay full price at the pump. I hope that as many truckers as possible can join this strike and that it will make people stand up and take notice. They are really sacrificing folks because if they are not driving they are not making any money and their trucks are still costing them even just sitting idle in insurance costs. It's hard to let a semi truck sit idle when you are paying $8000 plus a year for insurance.
Stand your ground truckers and keep those 18 wheelers shut down as long as you can - I am behind you 100 percent. Good Luck and God Bless.
Comments in response to this post are welcome.

Drop Deck Trailers For Hauling Heavy Equipment

Alot of people ask me what the difference is between a drop deck trailer and a lowboy trailer for hauling heavy equipment. Well if you go to my website you will see a low boy trailer right there on the front page that also qualifies as a drop deck because the front of it sets up on the fifth wheel of the semi it attaches to. Some would beg to differ and say that is not a drop deck but I say it is. You can also see even more lowboy trailers by going to my used heavy equipment site and clicking on lowboy trailers on the right hand side at the top of the front page.
I have seen some people use flatbed trailers to haul equipment but that is the type of equipment that doesn't sit up very high. Most things like loaders, backhoes and dozers need to be hauled on the back of a lowboy.

Hurricane Season is Here - Dump Trucks Get Ready

Now is the time to get your dump truck in good working order for the busy hurricane season ahead. Or if you don't already have a dump truck or dump trailer maybe you should think about getting one. Oh I know some people think that just because last year was slow for hurricanes that this year will be too. But do you ever get that gut feeling that something really big is gonna happen this year - well so do I. Maybe it's the quiet before the storm but the weather has just been too nice lately. This is the coolest beginning of summer I have ever experienced in Florida. We haven't had to use the air conditioning until just yesterday and usually we have it on by the middle of May. Or maybe I am just avoiding those high electric bills that come along in July and August. Even if the weather stays wonderful a dump truck always comes in handy for land clearing and construction projects. Beleive me as soon as the neighbors find out you have one they will be begging to borrow it and the same goes for a dump trailer. And if you have a teenager that you are trying to keep busy during the summer it can really come in handy for his landscaping and yard cleaning business which is a great introduction to hard sweaty manual labor to help inspire him to want to go to college. And sometimes it's easier to get heavy equipment financing than it is to get college tuition.

Get Down and Dirty With a Backhoe

I haven't met a farmer or land owner yet that doesn't wish for a backhoe. They are so versatile and multi-purpose. You can push dirt around with the backhoe blade, pick it up and dump it into a dump truck and then pickup scoops of dirt with the hoe part. You can dig ponds and ditches. I could go on and on about the myriad of uses for a backhoe versus getting a dozer and loader separately. A Backhoe is an all purpose machine and would be the 1st peice of heavy equipment I would ever get and the 2nd most important being the dump truck. You can put a lowboy trailer onto the back of a dump truck and use it to pull your backhoe. Anyone with a rig like that would be the envy of their redneck neighborhood. So keep your eye out for the backhoe of your dreams, no matter how dirty and ugly it is when you go to look at it remember it can always be cleaned up. If it's still running - it's worth lookin into. Yes you may end up having to replace some hydraulic hoses but you would have to do that with just about any machine sooner or later.

Cheap Semi Trucks and Lowboy Trailers

I recently added a 1971 Ford Semi Day Cab with a Lowboy Trailer for only $3500
to my used heavy equipment website. It has a 20 ton winch that pulls the Hyster Lowboy trailer up and onto the roller and comes with boom for pulling equipment, the lowboy trailer even has its own ramps. The truck doesn't run but out of the whole asking price we are only wanting $500 for the truck. You won't find a lower price on a lowboy trailer of that size anywhere.
There is also a 1986 Freightliner Semi Day Cab w with a 350 Cummins Diesel engine for only - $2995 OBO - Yes it does run and would make a great work truck that you could use with the above mentioned lowboy.
No matter what you are looking for I am sure you can find it on my used heavy equipment site.

Click on any listing below then click on REGISTER at the top of the listing (it's FREE)
to get more information about the Low Boy Trailers that you are interested in.

Preventing Rust on Heavy Equipment

Heavy Equipment is a valuable investments so you want to keep your own used heavy equipment in excellent shape and condition as much as possible. No matter how old or new it is or whether it’s a known model or not, you should give it special treatment as it provides as efficient, safe and comfortable means of earning a living as well as being used for personal use.

It is inevitable for any type of used heavy equipment to experience common mechanical problems; this is especially true if the model is already old. Among the most destructive and the most annoying problems is rust. This affects almost all machinery parts, especially those exposed to moisture. One used semis the body panels, including the doors, the fenders, the hood and the bed are of course among the most vulnerable. When damaged by rust, these body parts become weak and not only that, they become ugly too. Replacement may be your only solution.

The hood is one of the most important body parts as this is used to protect the most vital parts of your semi truck such as the engine. Just like the doors and the fenders, this must be rigid and tough to be able to give the best protection to parts underneath.

Since the hood has a metal covering that is exposed to harsh elements in the environment, the hood is also very susceptible to rust. Because of this, proper care is needed. It must be kept clean all the time and make sure the drain holes around the hood are clear so water can't pass through and cause rust.

Time to Get Ready for the Snow

Now is the time to think ahead and be prepared for the long winter ahead. It has already snowed in Florida just last week so the rest of the country will soon be in a deep freeze.
I decided to add some pages selling Snow Plow Trucks and Snow Blades that can be attached to the front of pickup trucks which I also have for sale albeit in Florida.
So maybe some of you snowbirds might want to take a vacation to pickup a pickup truck to take back with you to start your snow plowing business.
While your at it don't forget to check out the Snowmobiles for fun and recreation after you work tirelessy clearing your driveway with your handy dandy Snowblower which you could use on your neighbors driveway for a fee or put your teenager to work with.
Doesn't he need to get out from in front of the XBox anyways and make himself useful.

Nows the Time to Buy your Dump Trucks

As I had mentioned in my previous article on deducting the cost of used heavy equipment purchased for your business a dump truck is a big ticket item which should be depreciated over the useful lifetime of the vehicle. Please be sure to ask your accountant about this as he may feel otherwise. It is similar to depreciating a car for business use. A dump truck would hardly be used for home use but is usually used for hauling debris and aggregate for construction and land clearing projects. And so before the end of the year gets here you need to find you some dump trucks and dump trailers as well as other used heavy machinery to help with your business deductions. This time of year is always a big rush for businesses looking for equipment so do yourself a big favor and check out the many listings on my Dump Truck website.

Used Heavy Machinery As a Business Expense

I just setup a brand new used heavy machinery website that you might like to look at.
Now is a good time to buy heavy equipment for your business before the end of the year so you can use it as a tax deduction. Certain types of equipment can be completely deducted and some you may want to depreciate over a few years. The best thing to do would be to ask your accountant which would be better for you and tell him what types of heavy machinery you were wanting to buy and how much you expect them to cost.
I am always searching for things I can write off as a business expense as the end of the year draws near. Alot of people buy computers and office supplies this time of year in a big rush to get in as many business expenses as possible. So keep in mind if you are in any kind of business that requires used heavy equipment or machinery be sure to find out from your accountant how much of the cost you can use as a deduction this year.

Dump Trailers are Great For Hauling Sand and Debris

Many people ask me the difference between dump trucks and dump trailers.
A dump trailer has a detacheable trailer that is completely separate from the truck that pulls it.
Dump trailers come in many different sizes and can be pulled by anything from a pickup truck all the way up to a semi.
Dump trucks on the other hand have the dump bed as part of the truck. You cannot separate the dump bed on a dump truck from the truck. The controls for lifting the dump bed of the dump truck are inside the cab of the truck whereas for dump trailer the controls are on the dump bed itself so the operator has to walk out to the trailer to dump the bed unless it is rigged so he can do it from inside the cab of his truck.
It's not that one is any better than the other it just depends on what you want to use it for.
